VITAPROST PLUS - prostate extract and Lomefloxacin

VITAPROST® PLUS is a ultra purified polypeptide of animal origin developed to treat prostate disorders. The efficacy had been proved for over 20 years in clinical practice. The product can be used either as monotherapy or as a part of a therapy in combination with other drugs appointed by the doctor.

The combined preparation Vitaprost® Plus has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Lomefloxacin is a broad-spectrum bactericidal agent from the group of fluoroquinolones. Affects the bacterial enzyme DNA gyrase, which provides supercoiling, forms a complex with its tetramer (subunits of gyrase A2B2) and disrupts DNA transcription and replication, and leads to the death of a microbial cell.

Prostate extract has an organotropic effect on the prostate. Reduces the degree of edema, leukocytic infiltration of the prostate gland, normalizes the secretory function of epithelial cells, increases the number of lecithin grains in the secretion of the acini, stimulates the muscle tone of the bladder. Reduces thrombus formation, has antiplatelet activity, prevents the development of venule thrombosis in the prostate gland. Normalizes the parameters of the prostate and ejaculate. Reduces pain and discomfort, improves copulatory function.

Indications for use:

Acute and chronic bacterial prostatitis caused by sensitive microorganisms, including accompanied by inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary tract.
Conditions before and after surgery on the prostate gland.

Ingredients:

One suppository contains:

active ingredients: natural peptide - prostate extract - 100 mg (in terms of water-soluble peptides - 20 mg); lomefloxacin hydrochloride - 400 mg;

excipients: solid fat (Vitepsol, grades H 15, W 35, Supposir, grades NA 15, NAS 50) - until a suppository weighing 2.25 g is obtained.

Pharmacokinetics:

Lomefloxacin

Absorption - 95-98%; food intake reduces absorption by 12%. The time to reach the maximum concentration (TCmax) is 0.8-1.5 hours. The maximum concentration (Cmax) after oral administration of 100 mg is 0.8 μg / ml, 200 mg - 1.4 μg / ml, 400 mg - 3- 5.2 µg/ml. Food intake reduces Cmax by 18% and increases TCmax up to 2 hours. Stationary concentration (Css) in plasma is determined after 48 hours. Communication with plasma proteins is 10%. It penetrates well into organs and tissues (respiratory tract, ENT organs, soft tissues, bones, joints, abdominal organs, small pelvis, genitals), where the concentration of lomefloxacin is 2-7 times higher than in plasma.

A small part of the drug is metabolized to form metabolites. The half-life (T1 / 2) - 8-9 hours; mean renal clearance −145 ml/min.

In elderly patients, plasma clearance is reduced by 25%. With a decrease in creatinine clearance to 10-40 ml / min / 1.73 sq.m, T1 / 2 increases.

The kidneys excrete 70-80% by tubular secretion (mainly unchanged, 9% - in the form of glucuronides, 0.5% - in the form of other metabolites); through the intestines - 20-30%.

Prostate Extract - Pharmacokinetic parameters have not been studied.

Indications for use:

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Age up to 18 years (the period of formation and growth of the skeleton).

Dosage and administration:

Rectally. 1 suppository 1 time per day after an enema or self-emptying of the intestine. Before use, the suppository should be removed from the blisters. After the administration of Vitaprost® Plus, it is advisable to stay in bed for 30-40 minutes. The course of treatment continues until the pathogen disappears in the prostate secretion and ranges from 10 to 30 days (the duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually for each patient).

If necessary, it is possible to conduct repeated courses. If there is no improvement after treatment, or symptoms worsen, or new symptoms appear, you should consult your doctor.

Form release:

Rectal suppositories 400 mg + 20 mg. 10 suppositories in a blister, one or two blister packs together with instructions for medical use of the drug in a cardboard box. Torpedo-shaped suppositories from white or almost white to light cream with a grayish tint. The appearance of a white coating on the surface of the suppository and the presence of an air rod and a funnel-shaped recess on the cut are allowed.
